Horizontal Circular Split Saw
At a glance
The horizontal circular split saw is designed for splitting of four-sided cants with horizontally mounted saw blades. It works according to the double arbor principle which allows an equal distribution of the total cutting depth to two facing saw blades. The machine includes two vertically mounted three-phase flat-type motors either equipped with a saw flange fixed on the motor shaft (=A1) or with a fixed and a positionable saw flange (=A2). Vertical and horizontal adjustment of the motor supports is done by means of linear guides. Servo cylinders position the saw blades to cutting size. In case the machine is not in operation, the saw blades are horizontally moved out of the working range providing a full length cant support.
Tool change
Large, wide opening hoods allow an easy and safe tool change. For this purpose, the circular saw HKM can be equipped with pneumatically liftable and lowerable separating walls which reliably separate the working and the tool changing area. It is therefore possible to carry out a tool change while the sawline is in operation.
Application as primary processing machine
The servo-hydraulic positioning of the cutting depth also allows using the HKM 360-A2/V as primary processing machine. It is therefore possible to split multiple sideboards without the installation of a board edger.
HKM 230 - A1
Both motors are adjusted together vertically for setting the cutting height. For setting the cutting depth, the two motors are positioned independently from each other via hydraulic cylinder. Saw heads can be equipped with up to three saw blades.

HKM 360 - A2
Both motors are adjusted together vertically for setting the cutting height. For setting the cutting depth, the two motors are positioned independently from each other via hydraulic cylinder. In addition to the saw heads fixed onto the motor shaft with up to two saw blades, an adjustable saw head is added on each motor shaft for mounting of one each saw blade.
HKM 360 - A2 / V
The two motors are independently adjustable in horizontal and vertical direction. Cutting depth is servo-hydraulically positioned. In addition to the saw heads fixed onto the motor shaft with up to two saw blades, an adjustable saw head is added on each motor shaft for mounting of one each saw blade.
